Polluted air is drawn through the first stage of mechanical mist impingers, designed to remove the larger mist droplets and particles. The remaining sub-micron mist droplets and particles are removed in the second stage of two side by side electrostatic precipitators (ESP). In this stage the contaminants are subjected to an intense electrical charge through ionization and then collected by the collector plates, working similar to magnets by attracting the charged particles. A third stage and optional fourth stage of ESP’s collect any mist particles that may not have been captured by the first two stages of filtration.
