Sump-Saver
Automatic, Portable, Vacuum Filtration Unit

SFI is proud to announce the introduction of a new idea in coolant filtration. The Sump-Saver is an economical unit that employs roll media paper and the efficient vacuum filtration principle. The Sump-Saver is a portable unit that was designed for machining facilities with multiple coolant sumps. A Sump-Saver can be cleaning the fluid at one machine one shift, and moved to another the next. By rotating the unit through a plant, coolant life can be extended in several machines.
The Sump-Saver cleans your sump at up to 30 gallons per minute, turning over most sumps several times per hour. The Sump-Saver is easily purged of its fluid, so it may be moved between machines with different coolant concentrations, and even different types of fluids1. The Sump-Saver’s all-electric operation means that only one utility connection is required – 115VAC, 15 amps max. The Sump-Saver is also suitable for use on parts washers, recirculated cooling water systems, and other aqueous process systems.
1: It is recommended that the unit be rinsed with clean water prior to moving between sumps with incompatible, water-based fluids. It is not recommended that these units be moved between water-based fluid sumps and straight oil sumps without a thorough cleaning. This unit is not intended to be moved when holding liquid.

HOW IT WORKS:
1. Roll Sump-Saver filter unit into place near sump to be cleaned and set wheel lock.
2. Attach feed hose assembly.
3. Attach return hose assembly.
4. Attach feed hose to feed pump.
5. Insert end of gravity return hose assembly into sump.
6. Start feed pump. Adjust filter inlet valve if required. Filter tank will overflow back to sump. (Filter holds 30 gallons.)
7. Plug in filter and turn “on” control panel switch. Pump should start immediately, and the "Filtration Cycle" begins.
8. As the Filtration Cycle progresses, the contaminants being deposited on the filter media will create an increasing flow restriction.
9. The vacuum gauge reading will grow to 10" Hg. At this point, the vacuum switch will initiate an “index”.

INDEX CYCLE:
To "index" fresh media paper into the filter, the following operations are automatically performed:
1. The pump will stop and a 30 second delay for vacuum dissipation will occur.
2. The gearmotor will start and run for 10 seconds as the spent media is pulled through the filter and is deposited into the chip bin.
3. The gearmotor will stop, the pump will restart and the filtration cycle begins again.
